This is probably a post war built machine using a prewar engine. It is not an R7 engine. R7 was 1930. ( R the year code for 1930 ) Wolverhampton AJS model 7 had the mag in front of the engine. Note the engine pictured has the mag at the rear. Making it a Plumstead model 7, from 1933 to 37. Difficult to date without the engine number. It could even be 1938 onwards, which was the very first year the AJS model 7 became know as 7R.
