It will look something like this. A common bracket type used for fitting instruments like the amp metre. It will fit on the bottom of the speedo with nuts, the two side parts will be tight on the underside of the head lamp, holding the speedo in place. There is a rubber sleeve for the headlamp speedo hole. The speedo will have a flange type bezel.

Rudelan, are you looking to fit a rev counter or a speedo? No rev counter fitted as standard to the 1955 G3LS, as Rob says the speedometer was mounted in the headlight with a U clip.

I don't think so Clive , he has just got pt no. 022057 description wrong and used the word counter, description for part 022057 is Bracket, retaining speedo head in headlamp.clive wrote:Rudelan, are you looking to fit a rev counter or a speedo? Hi
They are a generic part - here's one fitted to something not AMC:
When I restored my G3 I made on from 19mm x 1.5mm strip - here in progress:
Regards Mick

Yes quite easy to make Mike, staring off as you have, then bend the legs leaving plenty of material to cut down until the legs are correct length. Perhaps allow for a washer under the strap. So if the legs splay out a bit on tightening, the washer can be taken out, having the effect of adding a bit the leg length. Make sure you have the speedo fitted with correct flagged bezel and rubber grommet fitted, before making the U clamp. You can always take a bit off the legs to get it clamped tight.
