Matchless 85 cs with Norton Badges ???
I read with interest Ken Bryants article in the Jampot titled "Life s Labours Lost.......where he discribed " 25, G85cs scramblers with the tank emblems, where he changed them from Matchless to Norton.....and they were destined for Belgium
Now as they were all fibreglass tanks and transfers with the big M on and varnished over, I wonder how he changed them to Norton.......
and they dont appear anywhere on the order / shipment papers after 99% of them went to America
Can anyone shed any light on these bikes as I have never ever heard of them existing or being found or anyone else remembering them

I would expect Ken has the answer, however he was there at the time of the last days, so who else can say what went on?

It was him that wrote the article........But I am wondering if his memory is not serving him well about those 25 bikes

'242017' already discussed that with Ken on here, robustly, two years ago.....saltbox alf wrote:I would expect Ken has the answer,

Your right.....I forgot all about that......
I was just hoping that someone somewhere had any further factial information.....I was intrigued by Kens statement...as these bikes disappeared into thin air.......
I do remember though Arter Brothers in Barham getting some trials bikes just before the end of the factory as I believe that Tom Arter had shares in the Matchless factory....

It seems like copy and paste for a comment or two
Enjoyed re reading that post .
It really is interesting to hit the search button or look at peoples post lists, saves asking the same thing for the umpteenth time, unless you can't find an answer or don't quite follow the logic of a post???? Which in fairness if you are new to the marque is not difficult to do

It make's one wonder, perhaps re re badged or are they sitting in a big shed somewhere?as these bikes disappeared into thin air.......
They could have been on the Liberian cargo ship Dias which sank in the bay of Biscay or was it Torrey Canyon hitting the rocks as a cover up of 25 missing bikes??

Some kind of MI5 plot?
"The mystery of the missing Nortons"
Should make a good book/TV series/Film.
Starring Saltbox Alf as ITMA
