1947 AJS Model 18 |

Description: |
1947 AJS model 18. More of a resurrection than a restoration! I bought the bike some 15 years ago as a pile of bits. Only the major components are from the original bike. The rest was via AJSOC (previous owner), jumbles and new! The more miles I put on it the better it gets! Sounds great and goes like a train - hhmm... must get those brakes re-lined! |

FJRIGJWWE9R1PIC_RATING:COMMENTS Hi folks, thanks for the comments. Tank was done by hand by the previous owner - no transfers!! Headlight was Armours but can’t get it to focus. (beware the light with the ’eye’ pattern in the lens). Mudguards are genuine and as far as I’m aware correct. Speedo was brand new - back in ’95 when I rebuilt it. I’ve recently (2011) fitted a front stand and sprung pillion for the ’missus’. Recently been through the petseal debacle - but the new silver stuff (Frosts)is great. Also run a modern Honda, but this bike never fails to please - it’s bonkers!! Incidentally, my dad had a ’46 one of these and used to haul a sidecar from West London to Scotland - for a holiday!
