Niether, just clean it up and get it running! Too many shiny restored bikes out there and not enough original bikes with genuine age old patina. Out of my own stable I have 2 original and several shiny ones, wherever I go the original ones always get more people talking.

Please keep it AFS. It is rare and interesting.

As above, bikes like this will be very rare in the not too distant future. Be a proud owner of one of the few that remain in original appearance. There is a wax product that I do not know the name of, that will preserve it.

Keep it original! Preserve it with ACF50. Plenty of civilian bikes around too. Be different and celebrate it’s history.

What a great find. Just clean it and enjoy it, don’t paint it! Lucky you.

I remember these bikes while an apprentice at the factory. Good God-I was 21!

No contest leave it original, maybe replace silence exhaust pipe and pushrod tubes, it will be worth more and you will have spent less.

I would keep it as it is. I had planned to get one in such conition and ended up with: http://www.jampot.com/pic_display.asp?id3737 which sadly needed a "from the ground up" build. I’m trying to keep as much original as possible though
