My ’59 model 14 doesn’t have this but looking at pics of my 63ish G2 it looks like it had a bump in the same place. Didn’t have anything attached though.

its the stop lock lug for the front forks without it the handle bars will back and bash in the tank ! on full lock or when the machine goes on the centre stand
