FJRIGJWWE9R1PIC_RATING:COMMENTS The sergeant is certainly a real giant ! The uniforms look very similar to Royal Norwegian Air Force uniforms from the late 1950s and early 60s. I used to wear one myself. Those overcoats were for winter use and called "Anton".

FJRIGJWWE9R1PIC_RATING:COMMENTS I have seen this pic before, cant remember where.
If you look really closely its an AJS.
[mudguard profile +knee grips]
either impressed or own bike on actve service.
I think its 1939-ish as the sergeant is wearing the older style uniform and the car behind seems to have white edged mudguards as in blackout

FJRIGJWWE9R1PIC_RATING:COMMENTS Ken’s spot on. Look at the mag, it’s in front of the barrel. However, if the sergeant says it’s a Matchless, I would readily agree!

FJRIGJWWE9R1PIC_RATING:COMMENTS These chaps are all RASC by the look of the cap badge, even the sargent has RASC collor dogs on although looking at the type of uniform on the sargent I would imagine the date to be about 1942-3. I would not argue with him, When he says he wants to ride the bike, I’d let him. The only puzzling thing about this photo is that he isn’t wearing a belt or lanyard. TTJohn
