Picture: 1929 V5

Description: The picture shows the bike nearing completion of restoration. It was exported to Budapest in 1929 and was repatriated in 1998. I suspect the machine was a basket case and was then "restored" by an enthusiast in Hungary. I had to start again with the mechanics and electrics. Everything has been done except the magdyno. You can see that the timing chain and cover have not yet been fitted. The biggest problem was getting a suitable piston - eventually I located a standard 600 cc JAP piston and had it cut down to size; the barrel was then resleeved. It has never been registered in the UK, so an age-related number will be applied for in due course.
