I agree!!-but how better does it make the brake? Mine certainly needs improving!

many thanks for putting this up, has persuaded me to give it a try. Two up fully ladden with camping gear means I have to put my heels down in an emergency. Boots now heel-less!

Instead of removing the end of the trailing lining I file a long taper so that more of the lining touches the drum.Taking off the end of the lining,with rivetted shoes is not a good idea as the linings have been known to come away from the shoe.Paul

I remember Tich Allen (VMCC) writing about this some year ago. I must write to them and see if they will re-print it. My brake just fells like the drum is oval even after skimming with the wheel built up and a new bearing assembly. Will try this mod.

Blimin Excellent,front brake didnt work depite new linings cut 1.5" off as described and works fine now... I assume this wold work on the rear brake as well ? Cheers andy
