The charts below show statistics from the UK government about the number of vehicles currently with a road license
or registered with a SORN. The information only relates to the UK usage figures. The data is based on the
"Vehicle licensing statistics" data published by the Department for Transport,
which in turn is extracted from the DVLA's vehicle database.
Vehicles manufactured before 1972 generally do not have a specific model recorded and so it is not possible to give anything more
detailed for the classic AJS and Matchless machines than the charts presented here. The modern AJS figures are available by model
and full details can be found using the website at www.howmanyleft.co.uk.
The following tables of statistics are used:
- VEH0120 Licensed vehicles by make and model, Great Britain, quarterly from 1994
- VEH0121 Vehicles with a Statutory Off Road Notification by make and model, Great Britain, quarterly from 1997
