Hi could anyone tell me what to use in the primary chain case regarding oil i know what your thinking and i should know but its my first basket case its a 18s 1955 Cheers be gentle with me

Handbook says 'Engine Oil'. I use SAE 30., Some use ATF (automatic transmission fluid)

Owner's Manual (It's for Matchless but same bike).

And before you ask.....No, it's not a good idea (IMHO) to use multigrade in th'engine. Please don't ask why as we've all just started playing nicely again - just do a Forum search on 'Engine oil'

Best source for a small quantity is your local garden centre, most sell it for lawnmowers, chainsaws etc.
