Has anyone found an alternative sidestand for the model 8 instead of the original which are a bit rare.

I posted something about this a few months back - one of the stalwarts of the forum had mentioned that an Indian Enfield side-stand could be modified for the Lightweights but I never managed to get any definitive info about what needed to be done - it MAY have appeared in an old Jampot. I can quiz that member again but there could be your starting point. I see loads of the Indian sidestands on eBay, fairly cheap, around £15-25, which compares well to the outrageous £90-100 wanted for one from some places!

That's well over £100 for the stand, spring, bolt and bracket! Their stuff is good but...

I have the pdf of the indian sidestand conversion article, send me your e-mail-address and I´ll forward it to you (or anyone else ;-).
I decided to buy the "original" sidestand from JSL, not cheap and needed some grinding, but does the job...

If you send me a copy I'll put it into the Technical Articles area for all to see.

I'd remove your email from the forum David and in future only send it by PM.
