You will need the rubber grommet/mouldings supplied by club spares for use on the AMC headlamps.
As Stu states, the lamps replace the headlamp bolts, fastened by a nut inside the headlamp shell.

The threaded tube is part of the sidelight not the headlight.

I believe you have a 1954 bike, if you have the correct headlamp or even the later 55 type.
The side lights replace the headlamp bolt. All that is needed extra are the rubber grommets.
You say you lost a rim and lens. But not while attached to your bike, else you should know all what's been stated.
When you do refit the lights, make sure they are complete, that's including the rubber rim seal and washer for the screw at the back.
Failing to do this, will result in the assembly being a bit loose, rattle, and you'll loose bits again.
Note the rubber grommets are not shown on the lucas parts list seen here.

I frequently find that the nuts inside the headlamp shell loosen off and the headlamp shell then vibrates like a nodding dog on a Ford Escort rear shelf.

Does anyone have suggested solution to prevent the nuts loosening? Double nuts? loctite thread lock?

Shake proof washers?

Yes the lamps usually come with serrated type washes

Thanks bigwol. I dont think mine have any shakeproof washers. Looks like I need to dismantle and unthread the cables to add some....

Use a flat washer over the serrated washer before the nut though, also get a cranked ring spanner on the nuts, They are thin nust and not easy to get tight with an open ended spanner. You should have a bullet connector between the lamp and switch of the live wire and a hollow connector on the earth, which makes a simple job of parting the wires to add a washer and get the ring spanner on the thin nut to tighten.

Also, if you need new lenses they are available from Hitchcock's, the Enfield dealer in Warwickshire. THe lucas part number is 573615 and itr comes up if you use the search facility on their website. They're only £1.50 each and are plastic, not glass but better that nowt if you've lost one!
