Can anyone tell me the correct petrol tank badges for my 1955 16ms bike first reg.april 55 is it 1 the pressed out brass letters or 2 the blue and silver round plastic type.thanks Tony w.

Blue and silver round plastic YES,
BUT the type with the narrow outter bands not the type with larger bands. Matchless are the same. Quite often its the later type you see for sale. Check the part numbers if ordering from club spares, for ages they only did the later type, I have not checked if they are now doing both types.

It appears the club are now doing both types of round plastic badges for AJS & Matchless.
I am not sure if the years they state are quite correct, I always understood 56 on for both marques had the wide routter band.
I have stated in the past, you can always check the parts lists, but, I get put down for saying that, so I will insted say, If you wish to re assure yourself, please check the parts lists yourself. www.archives.jampot.dk
