Type 89B 1 3/32" for a 1952 G80.

Have a look "HERE" for a new one (and a shock!).

Hello Jalo,
Amal specify 89B/1AK, with the following :-
Internal Bore : 1 - 3/32 ins.
Main Jet ; 180
Needle Jet : 106
Needle Position : 3
Throttle Valve : 29/0624
Float Chamber : 1AK (3 degrees)

As described in the current Amal catalogue.
Best regards.Edited by - Malleon on 16 Jun 2011 12:09:32 AM

Mind you Jarle, the 89B/1AK is twice the price (nearly) of a Monobloc. Monoblocs are a tadge more reliable too. I bought a new Monobloc from Amal to suit my 1952 18S (there was a knackered Monobloc on the bike when I bought it) and it's been trouble free.

89B/1AK correct as stated by Amal.
By the way, I made excell files of carbs for all models, plus electrical parts, AJS & Matchless. post & prewar. They should be available on this website, perhaps for member access only.
Only brief details are given.
There are a few errors in the Amal doc. those I was aware of I corrected in my file. I would be happy to e mail the file on request via prewar@jampot.com

Since my bike is far from original, it doesn't matter if the carb is a monoblock. So if it's half the price, i'll try get one of these.. But how about the setup? (needle size++) do anyone know what setup which is right for a monoblock-carburettor for this bike?? (-the cylinder is a tiny bit larger than original, maybe close to 550ccm?)

Tell Amal what bike it's for and they'll send it ready to bolt on and ride away.
