Stalling on tickover when on the side stand
Hi guys, anyone come across this one, or have suggestions for a cure?
My recently acquired model 31 starts and runs fine at all time except when on the side stand. If left to idle it then struggles and dies and will not start while one the stand, but uprighted or placed on main stand is fine again. My initial thought is a float chamber problem, but certainly does not starve when opened up.

If I leave mine on the sidestand whilst it's running it's inclined to fall over. So I don't. It vibrates the stand sufficient for the stand spring to flip it back up.

Perhaps thats is why they are "designed" to cut out then.

Just to briefly revive this post and give an answer to the original post; When the bike is lent over the float in the carb jambs in one position, and failing to cut off the fuel at the appropriate level causing it to flood. Something I don't believe happens with concentrics.Edited by - 1608 on 21 Oct 2011 1:56:39 PM

The jets are concentric with the body, on the monoblock the float bowl is on the left. Carbs are designed for the fuel level to be just below the jets to increase the aspirator effect at low air flow but leaning the bike to the left drops the level well below the jets, starving the engine. Cheers, Don.
