Hi all, looks like it's going to be a bit of a sod.
do I need both these tools then ?
What do you guys use in the way of a gasket / sealer. Looks like timing cover is sealed with blue Hylomar, whats best ?

No you only need the magneto pinion puller. Blue Hylomar is ok. Just put a thin smear on.

Jim, not so much a special tool but you will find removing the bottom mag bolt eaiser with a thin walled 1/4" WW socket.

Thanks for the offer Groily I'll see how it goes, probly cost more in postage tho from France than the cost of the tool, always supposing one can be found !

Well, what a great feeling, the G9 is all put back together and running sweet.
Second kick it went , what a change !
I must say I took Spriddler's advice and cleaned up the mag in situ. Could tell mag was ok as I got a belt up the arm when turning over with me finger and rag in the 'ole. I used a small paint brush with petrol to do the cleaning, finished with rag, renewed brushes except for earth.
Did the tappets too, tho they weren't far out.
But , how on earth was engine running being so far advanced ? Seemed the more I changed ie Monobloc in place of Concentric the worse things got. Anyway thats all in the past now, till the winter when I'll do the mag properly. I've learnt a lot doing this thanks to everyone's input.
Thanks very much, Jim Edited by - jim carlow on 02 Jul 2011 9:36:48 PM
