Petrol resistant paint

Post by bob »

Anyone got any experience of how petrol resistant Hycote spray paint is .
The Ebay sellers advertise it as " petrol resistant " but my local stockist says it isn't , I've emailed Hycote technical with the question , but they don't seem to want to reply .

Hycote spray paint is not petrol resistant, i know this from experience it will disolve before your very eyes!
If you do use it then use the petrol proof laquer on top which did work for me

Petrol resistant paint

I wonder if anyone at Hycote technical dept. read this forum
a couple of hours after I post this and I get a reply from them
Here it is in full for future reference :

"Hi Bob,
Apologies for the delay in replying.
Hycote Gloss Black is not petrol proof, and will be removed if splashed intermittently with petrol.
With this eventuality in mind, we have recently introduced a petrol resistant lacquer into the Hycote range of speciality paints.
UK435 Petrol Resistant Lacquer – This can be used over the top of the black to improve the petrol resistance.
Best Regards
Richard "
