Hi BRIAN, as far as obtaining an oil tight fit between dyno and crankcase is concerned Ive allways had more luck using an O ring than the cork gasket.Use the fattest one that you can fit over the end plate and use just a smear of Wellseal as supplied by Jampot spares or Hylomar from any decent car spares outlet.Also resist the temptation to overtighten the drawstud and securing clamp on reassembly,tighter is not always better. The solid state regulaters are a good idea but if your original regulater does its job then I would use that and save the fifty odd quid towards something else

I would sooner take my chances with roadside repairs on an old regulator/cut-out than a solid state one. The new ones have been known to pack up and there is no repairing.
