Knocked up a shim from an aluminium drinks can. Magneto spinning lovely now
BTW the magnets don't seem to offer much resistance but it gives a healthy spark on a plug spining it by hand.

If you only disassembled it to grease the bearings and put it back together i fail to see what changed?

The bearings were dry and tight. Adding a shim and greasing them has freed them up.
