Sussex Section Anniversary Camp - this weekend

Post by SPRIDDLER »

Just back from the working party at The Piltdown Man pub, Piltdown, on the A272 between Newick and Maresfield.
The portaloos have been delivered, and tested. About 3 tons of timber unloaded for Friday and Saturday night's fire and al fresco jacket spuds organised.
We sampled 3 of the pub's £1 (yes, one pound) evening meals - Sweet and sour chicken and chips, Bangers and mash, and home-made steak and ale pie and peas. Not a huge feast but good food all the same. Excellent Real Ale, tested.
All welcome to camp (free)for the weekend or just come for the day. Collection for the Macmillan cancer charity.
Saturday run, roughly 60 miles, leaves at 11 a.m. stopping half way at the Lakeside Cafe, Horam Manor, Horam about 12.30 'ish.
Forecast is good too!

Neville, just wanted to say thanks to you and the rest of the Sussex section for putting on yet another outstanding camping weekend.

You delivered on all of your promises, Portaloos fully functioned (frequently), the fire was a furnace at times, there were more jacket potatoes than you could shake a stick at, meals were indeed one English pound, Real Ale went down well (based on the number of barrel changes), the run was superb, the weather stunning but you did however forget to mention the excellent company.

I would ask that you keep next years date a secret though otherwise it will become difficult to find camping space in the field.

Thanks, Duncan, it was all great fun, substantialy enhanced by your crew's showcasing of Hants' new Joan of Arc drinking game.
My, how we laughed...eventually.
