I should soon be re-assembling the engine of my ex-WD G3L (at least that's the plan after getting the big-end done). Some questions:
1. What should be used to seal the crankcase halves together? I don't think they take a gasket.
2. Should there be a gasket between the crankcases and the compression plate? Or is the only gasket between the compression plate and the cylinder base?
3. How do I take apart the cylinder oil feed valve (ball, spring and plug) in the timing side crankcase for cleaning? Tried taking one out on a damaged crankcase and only succeeded in stripping the presumably BA threads in the brass plug.
Any other things I should watch out for? Thanks in advance for all your help.
Regards,
Joseph

no gasket between the cases, I prefer Hylomar or Wellseal jonting sealant/
A paper gasket both sides of the compression plate;if its a thick one you will need the extra washers under the bottom pushrod seals.
the plug is tapped 3BA; insert a cheesehead screw and lever out;usually they come out easy, a bit of heat might help.
everything else is straight forward, make sure both washers are between the main bearings.

The only vehicle on that website which is mine is the jeep. The other vehicles belong to friends and acquaintances of mine (on such a small island almost all people with a common interest know each other!)
