6v hooter to run on 12v system???

I am running my brake light etc directly from a 12v battery on a 1936 matchy G3. Dynamo disconected,
Will the 6v hooter be ok on a 12v system???

The hooter will draw twice as much current, so there could be a problem. How about two hooters in series? Having said this, I had two six volt trumpet horns on a Vincent Rapide combination, I transferred these to a Heinkel bubble car (12V) and they worked well, if extremely loud and high pitched.

6v horns are usually OK on 12v systems - as long as you don't sound the horn for more than a second or 2 at a time. You may have to adjust the tone a bit, they sometimes sound a bit too strident on 12v.
Its also possible to put a big resistor in circuit, to cut down the voltage a bit - the resistor has to be capable of handling a big amperage though, not one of those little electronic ones...

How many seconds do you use this hooter per day/week/month/year?
six times a month for one second?
I use a 12 Volt dynamo and a 6V Hooter
on my Matchless.
