Tele rigid G3L
Hello folks
I am looking for words of wisdom .. and this forum seems a good place to start.
I have 'found' a G3L tele rigid untouched for a few decades, sitting in the back of an old geezers shed, it looks grubby and unloved, but runs which is always a bonus, and almost all of it seems to be there. it is a black painted model.
I have a Cotton trials bike which shows I enjoy ..... or at least endure the pleasure / pain of classic bikes, I know very little about the Matchless, but am looking for a new project to play with and chuff around the back roads on.
Q1 Is the tele rigid a desirable thing ?
Q2 Are bits very hard to find ? (more than any other old bike)
Q3 Is £1000 - 1200 a lot to pay
Q4 could it be worth £ 2000 when finished ? (I am not sure they ever get finished)
Q5 should I question my sanity even thinking about it and go and buy a radio control helicopter for eating money instead ?
Looking forward to your wisdom
Chris

In order, yes,no,yes,no,no.But if it is running and mostly all there and you WANT it,and you do a bit of spannering, then no better reason to get it for £750---£950 ish.Have GOOD look in this forum,"Photos" "Adverts" "Tech. Articles" and of course the many members who will be happy to guide you through any problems you encounter. But if you are buying to eventually sell for a profit, stick to buying property or bank shares!

I think the price is about right these days, it'd go for more that that on ebay.
I refuse to answers questions such as 'what will it be worth when....'
Its a nice bike, easy to work on, plentiful parts, a sweet and easy ride, and reliable.
If you leave it there at 1200 it won't stick about for long.
And for a really tired cynical and jaundiced comment post up some pics.

On reflection,it's not Ebay, you've seen and heard it running, and you're up for some tinkering.....at the suggested price range, then,BUY!

If you love her then make her yours.
Look upon the cost of buying it as similar to the cost of the wedding: The expense has barely begun..... but there are benefits
