On the right you have all the pretty bits plus gear and kickstart levers, pipes and mirror. On pre-war bikes there would also have been a very vulnerable hand operated gearchange on the tank.Edited by - poplargreg on 09 Nov 2008 10:33:35 AM

There's your answer then! The pretty side is better displayed when the bike is parked on a left side stand! So it isn't a recent thing being a poser on/with your bike then?

how did folk change gear with a hand change?
I couldn't work it out either
most riders swapped them over to the normal positions
