Gearbox Removal

Post by davehutch »

After having loads of advice and being given step by step help on how to sort out my oil return problem on my G2 by Alan (biscuit), He now says I have to remove gear box to take out pump shaft. I am sure he will help with more advice on removing gearbox. Any more advice from any one will be greatly received. Thanks in advance Dave

Dave has been left in deep do-do by some idiotic Moron who placed a washer under the head of the guide screw for the pump drive pin, resulting in less than 50 thou. engagement of the pin in the spiral. I have the pin at the moment, it worked for a while until the corners of the pin wore away and the pump shaft jammed. At the moment it won't revolve and the gearbox must come out to try and remove the shaft. The worse case scenario is having to drill a hole in the front of the crankcase to drive the shaft out, as obviously the teeth are stripped at one point.

SO THOSE WHO THINK THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING BUT DON'T REALLY HAVE A CLUE

THERE IS NOT A WASHER OR SPACER UNDER THE HEAD OF THE GUIDE SCREW Edited by - Biscuit on 23 Aug 2008 8:36:10 PM

Started to remove gearbox, I have undone nut and the clutch case and sprocket are loose, undone nut holding rotor. How do I pull rotor off? I need to do this to remove primary chain there is no removable chain link.
Thank Dave

I am at the point of knocking out the pump shaft. When I feel at the front there is a little hole down where the cap came out, is the little hole in the pump shaft? Do I need a rod to go through the hole or a rod to go up to the hole?
Thanks Dave

Notice the damage where the aforementioned idiotic moron has forced the guidescrew/pin into the edge of the spiral groove?.

I hope the bugger reads this and offers some comments, then we can really tear into him!
