Many thanks to every one for your contributions. Many moons ago when a member of the BMW club, I was told to pack all luggage within an imaginary tri-angle. front to rear axle and shoulder of the rider . I thinks this info still holds good. I fit my tent on the pillion seat and have had no problems. The rack is only for light extras!
