New bigend instalation

When fitting a complete new bigend to an amc single how is the conrod part of the bigend lapped to ensure adequate clearance on the rollers. There is a reference to a special lapping tool in one of my books, but no diagrams or pictures. All sugestions welcome, I have too many dollars (Aust) tied up in these bearings to ruin them. (as you all are aware)
