Hepolite piston rings

Post by thomthom »

1960 G12 650
The pistons are identified with 15762 and "plus"0.030 stamped on the crown. Inside the piston the following are cast in; Æ 15762, B64 A M 413.
One piston has a conventional oil control ring and the other has the two segment oil control ring. However, I now find that the split ring was fitted incorrectly, upper ring with the protruding lands facing down and the lower ring with the lands facing up. I searched on the forum and found that they should both face the same way, “with the ring uppermost and the protruding lands facing down”

I have looked in JSL and they do not have any +0.030 and there appears to be nothing on the web. Please can you help me to find where can I buy piston rings for the Hepolite pistons.

In the April 2007 Jampot there was a picture of the Kettering Crew on page 21, first on the left is Rick Edwards who has a sign underneath him stating “Associate Business – Piston Rings”, I can not see any adverts for him in the magazine though but JSL may be able to give you a contact number.

Rick is 'The Piston Ring King'. He has the world's largest stock of piston rings (seriously, go visit Jampot Spares and be prepared to have your breath taken away!). He can make up any ring set, will be the best value and is also a really nice guy.

Look no further. He is your man!
