350 Lightweight Valve Lifter
Can anyone help with a photo, diagram or explanation, regarding how to attach the valve lifter cable on my 1960 350 Lightweight ? I have the valve lifter arm protruding from the rocker box complete with return spring, which seems to operate ok, but I`m unsure how the outer cable is retained at the rocker box in order to operate the valve lifter.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

look at this picture of the rockerbox:
Rockerbox
If you aim your sight in a direct line from the valve lifter arm to the rear of the rockerbox, about 2" down you will see a threaded boss to take the threaded part of the cable ferrule. Once screwed into this, pull the outer cable back to enter the valve lifter arm and seat the clean ferrule in it. Voila, you have a pull.
Oops, just realized you're talking lighweight hear, so may not apply!Edited by - TommoT on 13 Aug 2007 1:33:31 PM

Many thanks for the advice, but unfortunatley I think there must be a part missing ? At the 2 O`clock position below the valve lifter arm at the front part of the rocker box, I have a 1/4" tapped hole into the rocker box, and nothing else ?

...if you have the correct cable, this is where you screw in the threaded adjuster. Again, if you have the correct length of inner cable, you can pull back the outer just enough to let it slide in place in the valve lifter arm.

Thanks TommoT, but if I screwed the threaded part of the cable into the rocker box, it would point the cable away from the valve lifter arm and towards the spark plug.
Apologies if this sounds confusing ?
Could I possibly e mail a photo, or does anyone have a photo of a correctly fitted valve lifter set-up

You screw it in from the other direction, when you operate the lever, the inner cable stays still and the outer moves.
