Hi all,
good news. Managed to clean the ATD easily enough and it isn't the problem.
Spriddler was spot on, Operator error....I didn't understand the operation of the choke (air lever). I assumed it was like any other choke...pull it out to choke the carby and push it in for normal run.
Bike started first kick today and as soon as I pulled the air lever towards me it ran beautifully at 3/4 - full throttle.
Still more work to do on the fuel leak at the carby but I'm going to take the bike for a short shake down ride this weekend.
Thanks again for all the advice from everyone.

We've all been there in one way or another, Brian.Brian 54G80S wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 10:52 am Operator error....I didn't understand the operation of the choke (air lever). I assumed it was like any other choke...pull it out to choke the carby and push it in for normal run.
Many, very many years ago when I had just moved hastily into an unfurnished rented flat during a rather turbulent phase of life (women, eh? ) I nipped out and bought a VHS player from Currys, but it hadn't dawned on me til I got home and unpacked it that I needed a TV as well.
