That's correct. For 1956 021768 stud is 4 7/16" x 1/2" x 26.

A) is 000278 4 9/16 X 5/16 X 26, B) is 000316 7 7/16 X 7/16 X 26, C) is 000318 Gearbox bottom stud 4/9/16 X 7/16 X 26 (don't use washers with this stud or the centre stand will hit it.) D) is the same as A). E, F, G and H are just the other ends of the above. The bike in your pictures stud B is very short possibly for an alloy chaincase. On the 56 G11 this stud is much longer because it goes through the tin chaincases. There's a spacer in between the engine plates and chaincase and another inside the chaincases. You'll have to study the parts list!

You are right! I try to do my best, but is not easy.
The spare list make an assumption that I am a mechanic or similar, I am too new to English bikes restoration, as my other bike, Norton 1953 mod.7, was already restored.
I am getting more experience on how to read the list, day after day.
I have a lot of studs/bolt that I am still trying to assign a place.
Another point for experience, I saw that some studs, especially the 3/8 one passing in to the engine, after nickel plating take a small extra size that does not fit anymore. Solved with a new one (stainless).

Dave,
moving ahead on restoring I found a schema on 1957 workshop manual, I suppose is applicable also to model 30 1956 (apart the generator), I am right?
The holes "1" and "2" are the same in the picture on the right?
If yes, what are the correct studs?

According to the 56 parts list 000278 which is 4 9/16" X 5/16" and it says the gearbox adjuster screws on the end. On my 58 G11 both studs are the same. Dave

thanks for the hints.
Waiting the arrival of missing studs, I concentrate to centre stand.
Any hint to mount the spring return easily, to avoid brake my fingers?

Ha Ha, there are many ways if you do a search. My method is to engage the short end of the spring in the hole in the engine plate. Then using a small ring spanner hook the longer end of the spring and lever it over the bar into place. And I've still got all my fingers!

ACME Stainless have started making a STUD FOR SEAT LUG 1/2? x 4? 7/16 – BELOW SADDLE (023250) – It is listed as this part number because i asked him to make me one but my 1957 catalogue gives that number rather than the one you found for 1956.

I think they've got the part number wrong. 023250 is 4 7/16 X 5/8" for 1958 on . For 1957 the '56 size was used for the 350 only pt number 021768. The 500 used a 5/8" stud part number 021917.
