My 650 has done about 9000 miles on E5 so far, with no issues.

Thanks. It's very reassuring to know that I'm not the only one.
Anyway, David now has some additional information whether it was needed or not! 😝
Yep, at least he now knows that some of us seniors are liable to get things a bit muddled, but it could have been a lot worse..........

Hey thanks for all the great info, you guys really have been a massive help, i only asked about the handlebar lever not knowing if this was a valve lifter, choke or advance/retard, i have noticed other 250's that have been for sale had it, anyway not to worry, the bike is running now thanks to all the great advice, new plug, HT lead and cap plus cleaning the points seams to have worked wonders. I am reading all the literature and trying to take in as much as possible, sorry if I'm asking a lot of dumb questions, feel like the new kid in school Hahaha.

Cheers everybody out there in AJS/Matchless land.

ESSO E5 unleaded is no longer ethanol free ..
Hi Taid, is that right with regard to the Esso premium as I normally make a point to use their fuel in my old bikes.

E5 = 5%
E10 = 10%

Esso still supplies some sites with ethanol free or E5 but mostly on the Super Unleaded.

You can now buy fuel for lawnmowers etc that is ethanol free but it's expensive but supposedly very good quality.
