K8 gearbox bearings

I'm moving along with my K8 'improvements' .
In trying to get the rear chain in alignment with the gearbox i have now had to fit a spacer between the frame and brake plate, that's fair enough.
But whilst i was doing this i found that there is a fair bit of movement in the output bearing of the gearbox. I have the correct bearings in my stock of bits.
The question is how best to remove the staking around the bearing without compromising the fit.
Many Thanks .John
