Hello
I have a 1953 Matchless G80CS which just finished putting together. The bike is complete except for lighting. I am considering putting together components for a working electrical system. The main components missing are:
Battery box and attachment hardware
Head light stay brackets
Head light assembly
Tail light assembly
49T dynamo drive chain
I am not clear on what size head lamp and model that is appropriate for my year and model bike. I believe that the correct size is 6.5” MU42. The online parts book for 1953 G80 is missing head light and tail light components. The parts book for 1953 AJS shows lucas SSU700. Could someone advise on the correct size and lucas model. I do have a 6” cat eye lense that I would like to use if 6” is the correct size.
Thanks in advance for any help that I can get.

Here's the Lucas catalogue in Christian's archive:

I have the 1953 parts list and it says MU42 headlamp part number 50791-A.
Dave.

I'll scan the missing pages for the 53 parts list for Christian's archive (if I can get a 5 year old child to show me how to do it!)
