Frame numbers

Post by Tazmantic »

Sorry, expect this has been asked 1 million times. Is there a list anywhere to indicate frame numbers against year of manufacture specifically 1940s, I think.

Thanks

I know of no other source except the info which Bacon writes in his book 'AJS & Matchless Restoration'.

(Club Dating can provide the actual ex-factory date for a specific frame no).

Great thanks so would that mean a 1946 would be 0 to 500 a 1947 501 to 12760 etc

Cheers

No, I believe the numbers quoted are the starting number for the year, not the final number for the year. So 1946 would be 500 - 12759

I believe that pre-war and WD frames will also share some of the numbers so you will also need to roughly identify the style of frame too to get the approximate era first before homing in on the year.
