the oil holes in the pump internals are 0.250" , so in reality anything this size or larger is OK

Feked do one with ignition switch for mag or coil
6.3mm bore ie 1/4"

or significantly cheaper , provided you remember to turn on

thanks to all those who have replied,i must be getting dafter.i cant get my head around why the oil pipes are of 9/16" internal diameter and if i fit one of the Fecked taps i will be restricting the bore of the pipe by over half its diameter which dont seem quite right somehow.i will have to use a simple tap as my bike has the simple button kill switch on the end of the mag..

I really dont advise an oil tap without an ignition linked earth. I know so many members who have wrecked engines by forgetting to turn on. Some even had foolproof systems to stop them doing it.

i think the idea is to keep the volume as large as possible for as much of the system as possible , you could get a ball valve from a plumbers merchants and brass tails with larger diameter if you are worried , but as Clive says forgetting to turn it on is a sure way of needed a engine rebuild .
and fit the sensor from Feked

thanks for the above links, they are just the job.i know i have to remember to turn the tap on but i am a methodical sort of chap and should be ok.i plan to fit the tap so the lever sticks out at 90 degrees when in the off position and i will drill a hole in the end of said lever which i will use to cable tie to the kickstarter after use.cutting the cable tie should remind me to switch it on!.i am not using the bike at all at the moment because of the wet sumping problem.instead i take my bonneville which does not seem to suffer from this problem.many thanks to all who have contributed to this thread, cheers greasemonkey.

bought the ebay one from the links above and fitted it.idrilled a hole in the end of the tap lever so that i can cable tie it to the kickstart with a block of wood when its in the off position.hopefully this will remind me to turn it on .
