Hello.
I'm trying to get the bits together to fit a tacho to my 31 CSR. I have managed to source the right-angle gearbox and mounting/drive parts. I struggled with the oil seal, in the end I had to fit a 7/16 ID x 7/8 OD by 1/4 deep instead of the original same ID & OD but 5/16 deep (but this is pushed against the circlip by the oil pressure and the depth shouldn't matter). I have sourced a donor tacho to be rebuilt and hopefully this will be ready in a couple of weeks.
Can anyone please confirm the length of the drive cable and if any "armour" to protect it from the exhaust is fitted to it and its length as well? Is the output of the gearbox clocked horizontally, vertically or somewhere in between?
Thanks in advance.

according to the smiths 1961 catalogue the cable would be 2ft 2 1/2 inches. http://archives.jampot.dk/technical/Spe ... t_1961.pdf
