hello again!
now started rebuild post covid. anyhoo upon the basis that there are no daft questions, well maybe some, I have a question.
I am about to dry assemble the crankcases. i took quite a few pics at disassembly but those that I have dont show the bit I need.
does this spring slot into this hole, should anything else be in there and if it does go there, what does it do ?
I don't have a manual or engine drawings and have never worked on AJS. Is there a book worth buying or whatever.
Any help gratefully appreciated.

No, it's the spring for the oil filter relief valve. 014241.
There's a good diagram on page 18 of the '59 manual: http://archives.jampot.dk/book/Owners_m ... Models.pdf
A good workshop manual for rebuilding a twin is the 57-64 :http://archives.jampot.dk/book/Workshop ... models.pdf
