i,m looking to respray my 1954 G9 petrol tank, I understand that it should be chrome all over with aldwych red panels as shown in attached diagram.
Are or can these red panels be a decal?
If not,
Any idea who can paint the panels or do the rechrome and paint the panels?

Glenn David advertises in the Jampot. Not used him myself yet but have heard good reports from others. If I remember correctly the picture in the advert is a tank done for club member.

oops the very member has beaten me to it!

Many Thanks will get in touch with him, are the red panels decals?
Looking at different you tube bikes I prefer the black tanks to the red and chrome...

I thought they were painted black. Chrome for export models. Chrome is an expensive luxury

52/53 era tanks were mainly black, the Korean War was on and chrome was in short supply, also wheel rims were argenised, a silver grey paint finish, the red / chrome tanks were special or export order.
For chrome there's a company in Yate, also one at Banwell near Weston s mare did some stuff for me.

The '54 spares list and sales brochure show a chromed and panelled tank. The sales brochure also shows the wheels to have red-lined rims too.
'53 literature shows black painted tanks and unlined wheels as Bitza said.
Interestingly the '53 onward sales brochures also show the timing cover monogram badge painted red for all road models but our '55 G80S did not have the timing cover badge painted from new. Restorer beware!
