Advice please new owner
Hi
Couple of minor problems
Centre stand spring a little weak, is there a replacement or remedy?
I have a leak from the exhaust stub, new gasket needed?
finally should I replace the rectifier with something more modern?
Any advice appreciated, I'll post a pic when I find out how

Centre stand, get a new spring. Exhaust, there's no gasket, either widen the pipe slightly with by tapping a taper in, or use silicone inside the port and slip exhaust in (it works!). Rectifier, do yourself a big favour (as well as joing the club!) and convert to 12 volts with a modern Reg/rec. Plenty of good ones about such as Areg.

Yes you can keep the points with 12v. You might get a spring from AMC Classic Spares. Or if you join the club you can get it from the spares scheme.

centre stand spring was never strong and will only just lift the stand in place. Maybe the new replacement ones are better

I wrote a 12V conversion guide here:

Maybe helpful?

Hi,
Yes I read your guide, thank you, and have everything other than the bulbs so far, waiting for the bank holiday before I fit it.
Then just need my relined front shoes returned and I'm ready to not go anywhere

Good luck with the conversion! If anything in my guide is unclear (or wrong!) then do please let me know so I can improve it...
