Wonderful piece of work Martin but what is the solution to Oz's point? Mine has some wear and clonks slightly when I first use the rear brake on a ride. I know this isn't ideal but is there a solution other than the obvious bodge of using some strips of steel to take up the play!

I did reply to Ozmadman - it's Stainless Steel.
If I had a sloppy rear brake plate then I'd weld up the slots side faces and re machine it or file it to a nice sliding fit - of course it could be the swinging arm lug that's worn - you'll have to investigate

Yeah, I saw you replied to Ozmadman, my quoting was poor!
I guess welding up is the answer but outside of my skills so I'll just have to live with it or look for another brake plate with less wear! I did have a spare rear wheel but gave it away. I do, though, have a spare swinging arm which may be a better fit.
