Just came back from a ride and had dripping from behind the chaincase, looks as though the chaincase is still weeping.
Looking around underneath I found this threaded male fitting, is this the discharge for wet sumping that is normally diverted onto the chain.
Or something missing?
What is this?

Re: What is this?
Looks like you have found the crank case Breather Its title tells you its function. There should be a short pipe attached pointing downwards. Oil mist will breath out. Some people put a pipe on to the rear chain, perhaps preventing it to function correctly. Perhaps oil will pool and block it.
Those are the parts missing. Expect to see a drop of oil seep out when parked up, you then know its doing its job.
The oil pump will return sumped oil back to the oil tank after a few minutes of starting the engine. The instruction book will inform you of chain care & lubrication.
