I need a swinging arm spindle and no one seems to have one - the clubs spares are out of stock - it's my fault I know - when ever I need something from them they run out of stock - my apologies to the rest of you!!
If anyone has a swinging arm out of the bike could they measure the spindle for me the best they can I'll attempt to make one.

I need dimensions A, B & C - B being the width of the flat part of the slot and not that of the chamfers.

Would just good old mild steel do does any one know?

Cheers

I am afraid I cant help with dimensions as I have a different bike.

However with regards to material, for items such as spindles I would usually go for something like EN16 or EN24T. Swinging arms may well be less stressed than, say, wheel spindles and you might getaway with BMS but I dont know and would personally err on the cautious side.

I am pretty sure that your google-fu will help with material choice.

Have you tried AMC Classic Spares and Russell Motors?

Welding EN steels seems to be not so simple - requiring heating before weld etc etc
I have tried Russell's and AMC classics have not listed it.

The left hand chamfer is 1/8 x 45, you may not need to pre-heat as it's only 3/4 dia, try EN3b or you could use a bit of black. I don't have A dim as you can see.

Heavyweights use steel tube, presumably high grade like EN16/24, so a solid spindle should be OK in a lesser material. Instead of welding, have you considered using a woodruff key and interference fit if there is enough material in the swinging arm eye? It works for crank axles! That way you could use EN16 and not worry about destroying the temper as you would with welding. Andy
