Have you guys considered using fuel injection hose clamps? Same function but more compact and I think look alot better ;)

Nope. I don't have any fuel injection clamps in my cupboard stock, just a range of effective and rather attractive workmanlike 'Jubilee' (worm drive) ones.
(These AMC bikes didn't have fuel injection ;) )

Now FI??? Next you're going to tell me that they're not blown as well.

Hi

There's no increased pressure in either pipeline so they are not going to 'blow' off.
The rigidity of the copper lines and oil tank mounting ensures they can't fall off.
The elasticity in the rubber tube is sufficient to seal them against leaks.

You don't NEED any form of hose clip / ferrule - anything you choose to use will be essentially cosmetic so take your choice - my preference would be for ferrules as per later years:

Thanks Mick!

Yeah I was looking for what was originally correct on these and it seems that in '54 they just plugged the rubber bits in to join the pipes together so that is what I'll replicate.

Hey Colin,

What was the o.d. of those oil pipes?

Also can anyone confirm the thread sizes on the adapter piece ?

It looks like 1/2" 55 degree 19tpi on one side and 5/8" 55 degree 20tpi on the other

Looks like 1/4 BSP and 3/8" BSP. I'm presuming you're made a mistake with the 20tpi as that isn't used in BSP. Should be 19TPI.
Dave.

I thought so as well when my machinist buddy said it, but checking with my bsw thread standard it appears he was right:

Old but very helpful thread, thank you to all contributors. I am at this point too and have two issues:]
1. The PO rethreaded to engine case to accept 1/4" NPT US threading, I will have to get bits for this in the states.
2. It appears that the Infeed fitting cannot be attached due to interference frrom the engine mounting bolt, is this to be deleted?

Any advice or confirmation on the #2 issue?

Thanks,
CSBill
