Oil pipes, routing and whats left...
Hi folks,
I'm hoping someone can help me identify what's missing here as well as correct fitting and routing for the oiling system. Here is what I have:
What I think I have:
O Union to return/feed? What does this connect to?
X Head feed pipe (other end is on the head with rubber pipe)
X Unknown (Oil return?)
X Unknown (Oil feed?)
X Oil tank breather pipe? (where does this attach?)
X Unknown (Check valve, union to copper pipe) this fits on the drive side, where does this route?
The unmarked pipe appears to be another feed/return pipe with some kind of BA thread, but it's too small to actually fit the crank case ports.
Which does the O union connect into? Which is feed, which is return?
I'm clearly missing stuff here and I thought I had finally obtained all the needed parts, but sadly I'm still along way off from being able to run this thing

Fix it until it's broken!
Otherwise how will
anything get done?

I took some photos when I pulled my bike apart, I hope they are of some use.
These are the tank connections.

Another view of engine side connections
View of flow and return pipes oil tank.

Thanks guys,
How about the other side? I've seen quiet a few pictures of the pump side, but what about the drive side? Where does that pipe route to?
ALso this is to a '54 18S

Here's the crank case breather on a 61 G3, (it's pointing up for convenience during restoration - it's normal position is pointing down).cfaber wrote:what about the drive side? Where does that pipe route to?

Thanks so much Mick! I think this is the first and only time I've seen a picture of the vent pipe!Mick D wrote:Here's the crank case breather on a 61 G3, (it's pointing up for convenience during restoration - it's normal position is pointing down).cfaber wrote:what about the drive side? Pag 119 of the Pitmans Book of the AJS. Shows the metal pipe fixed to the engine plate. It points towards the rear chain. The rubber tube connects it to the oiltank breather.
