Ariel Huntmaster? Might be a R/R Merlin from a Spitfire............ you can find the Owners Workshop Manual here:

Dear Dierdre, how do I now remove the washing up liquid from the barrel I inadvertently poured it down following the advice of a Bantam owner. Everytime I try to start the bike she farts bubbles out of the exhaust and my knobblies grip even less than they ever did. Normally the internet is so reliable and furthermore my familly continues to enjoy the cat burger recipe.

Yours, Richard Edwards.

I've had an idea to invent a device made from an old spark plug and a balloon. Please keep it a secret as I hope to be on Dragon's Den. Watch this space-I'll be a millionaire this time next year

Pretty close to my idea. I'm going to sit over the spark plug hole, crank the engine over and see how much my eyeballs bulge.

It reminds me of when I had my Enfield 250 as a teenager.

I did a compression test by squirting oil down the bore to see if it was rings or valves letting by.

I put the plug back in and confirmed what I thought-it was the rings if I remember.

After the test I gave it an almighty kick with the plug out, only to get a massive slug of engine oil straight in my eye!

My god did that sting!!

Every day is a school day as they say....

That Bantam owner was obviously a West Ham supporter. Don't forget too the legend that states that Bantams can fire up and run in reverse. Don't know if it is true but years ago a mate of my brother's reckons he started his D7, put it in gear and it went in reverse?!
