Testing 12v Coil

On the way home from a do last night and the beast stopped and refused to start again. Couldn't get a spark, just plain refused. Luckily a pal with a van came to the rescue, having already pushed her a mile.

Checked the coil today. Low tension 5.3 and High tension 8.9. After checking over the wiring I found a dry joint near the switch and I now have a spark. I am however concerned with the coil readings as they don't seem to correlate with information I've found on t'internet. However, a spare coil I have gives similar readings.

Should I be unduly concerned and change the coil or just put it all down to the dry joint.

Cheers, Chris

Try the bike out, but carry the spare just in case, if all is well then your fears are for nought.
