Hello, I have a 1972 250cc Stormer. Unfortunately engine was seized solid when I got it. The cycle parts are great and I was wondering if anyother engine would fit the frame or does anyone know of a mechanic that could
do something with a really poor engine. The crank had to be laser cut off and the head is unusable. Thank you

Spares are available from AJS Motorcycles at Andover (01264 365103) but it sounds as if you need a complete new engine! My friend did schoolboy scrambling in the '70s on an AJS Stormer fitted with a 125cc Minarelli engine but there looks to be such a lot of room in the frame that there must be many engines that would fit.
Good luck
Mark

Seized solid engines much older have been dismantled. Maybe there's ways and means you have not tried. Don't dump the engine, someone may be glad of it and get it apart. Have to do that with engines perhaps up to 100 years old. As there's no alternative.

Thank you, I have started stripping the engine but there seems a lack of information, especially the dreaded clutch disassembly.

There is an owners manual for a 1970 Stormer Y on here http://manuals.classic-motorbikes.net

You will have to pay a fiver to be able to download it, but once paid you can download all manuals on the site.
