BRAKE DRUM PAINT.jpg
Hi,
While cleaning the rear brake drum on my 58 30CS I noticed it had been previously painted in AJS blue.
Traditionally the brake drums were painted black however, I know that in 1962 you could have any part painted in any colour (for 1962 available models).
Do you know if this trend was started in 1958 and if so what AJS parts, other than the usual petrol and oil tanks and tool box and frame shield, were painted blue in 1958??
Has anyone ever seen a blue painted brake drum?

Regards............David

Few years ago a pal had a lot of NOS parts. They were of many colours, he mentioned yellow guards. Could have been company vehicles, painted in company colours. I recall because companies had their own colours, commercial vehicles were priced in primer. I used to buy Reliant vans, £25 extra painted. So I had one done in a colour I wanted, not one of their standard colours. There was also no purchase tax on vans.
